چکیده

Abstract Background The diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), is a serious and economically important pest of crucifers in Delhi, India. Larvae pupae the were collected from cabbage, cauliflower broccoli crops grown vegetable fields at farm ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi-110012, December 2021 to June 2022. larvae transferred laboratory reared for emergence parasitoids’ adults 25 ± 0.5 °C RH 70 5%. Results Four parasitoid species emerged, viz. Apanteles mohandasi Sumodan & Narendran 1990, Cotesia vestalis (Haliday, 1834), Diadegma insulare (Cresson, 1865) Diadromus collaris (Gravenhorst, 1829). Among them, A. , C. D. reported first time whereas (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) recorded here Additionally, record parasitism by on P. Delhi was established. highest percentage that . Moreover, higher rate during May 2022 organically cultivated fields. 7.5, 22.5, 12.5 15%, respectively. Conversely, conventionally farmed fields, rates 3.57, 16.67, 10 13.33%, Conclusion use biological control agents particularly parasitoids IPM program should be considered, thereby reducing reliance insecticides increasing efficacy hymenopteran parasitoids.

Evaluating trap crops for diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae).

Potential trap crops for the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), were evaluated through a series of ovipositional preference and larval survival experiments in outdoor screenhouses in 2002 and 2003. Hosts examined as trap crops were glossy and waxy collards, Brassica oleracea L. variety acephala; Indian mustard, Brassica juncea (L.) Czern; and yellow rocket, B...

Chronic Sublethal Effects of Cantharidin on the Diamondback Moth Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)

The diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Linnaeus) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), is a major pest of cruciferous vegetables worldwide. Cantharidin, a natural toxin isolated from blister beetles, has been reported to be toxic to P. xylostella. However, little is known on the chronic sublethal effects of cantharidin on this species. In this study, we assessed the changes of susceptibility, develop...

Pathogenicity of Nosema sp. (Microsporidia) in the Diamondback Moth, Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)

Biological control using pathogenic microsporidia could be an alternative to chemical control of the diamondback moth (DBM) Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae). The microsporidium Nosema bombycis (NB) is one of the numerous pathogens that can be used in the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) of DBM. However, its pathogenicity or effectiveness can be influenced by various factors, parti...

Evaluation of presence-absence sampling plans for the diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)

Two sets of sequential presence-absence sampling plans for the management of diamondback moth (DBM) were developed and evaluated, one for the classification of levels of the proportions of plants infested with larvae and the other for the classification of levels of larval density. The action thresholds investigated were 0.15, 0.25, 0.35 and 0.45 for proportion-based sampling plans and 0.2, 0.4...
